WordPress paves the way for Easy DIY Websites

As more and more small business owners turn to the internet as one of the most effective ways to promote and grow their business, learning how to get the most out of the web is becoming increasingly important to them. Virtually any Internet Marketing strategy begins with a web site or blog, and WordPress, one of the worlds most widely used content management systems is becoming even more popular as the platform of choice for SMBs and Solo Professionals.

WordPress – world’ s favourite CMS

Originally released in 2003, WordPress, is now used in over 4 Million websites worldwide. For the small business owner, WordPress provides a low cost way to market their products and services.  The software itself is Free (it is Open Source and has a developer base in the thousands), and is widely recognised as one of the easiest to use and feature rich CMSs available.  There are also thousands of Free themes (which provide the look and feel) and free plugins (which extend the features and functionality).  Premium Themes and Plugins are also available (for relatively low cost) which provide a huge variety of features, and can save hours (or even days) of development effort.

Probably the biggest “cost” of using WordPress is the time and effort required to plan, create, develop, and launch the site.  The average user with no previous experience should be able to come to terms with WordPress very quickly, but there can also be a steep learning curve associated with understanding domains, hosting, setting up email and optimising and promoting their website.

This learning curve is one reason why our Website In a Day Workshop is proving so popular.  We are able to pack everything you need into a single days practical hands on workshop (and include it all in a step by step workbook which you get to take home with you), and at the end of the course, you walk away with a fully functional website that you have created yourself, and the skills and experience to be able to manage and enhance it yourself.
